I found this article in the 'Leicester Daily Mercury' dated 13th September 1988: “MUSIC LOVER Mark Wright has hit the right note by setting up his own specialist record shop. Mark (23), voted 'Shop Assistant of the Year' in March, has teamed up with former colleague John Brooks to open Classic Tracks in East Bond Street, Leicester. The shop, which opened only five weeks ago, specialises in classical music, film soundtracks and nostalgia. To keep in tune with customers’ needs the store also orders imported discs and rare film music. Mark, who worked for Brees Records in Churchgate, Leicester for nearly two years, always wanted a shop of his own. John (49), an employee at Brees for 25 years, agreed they should pool their personal savings to lease premises. Although it is early days yet, business seems to have started on the right track. As specialists, Classic Tracks does not aim to compete with big record chains such as the HMV shop, “We wouldn't wish to tread on their toes.”
