Name: Andy Dursley Comment: Was that the only shop or were there other Churchill's branches in Bristol? I'm currently researching shellac and vinyl records including recordings of mechanical music, hence the Roy Mickleburgh connection - an ex-manager of Churchill's on Park Street started Saydisc records, which released many records of Roy's machines and instruments.
The manager of the record department between (probably) 1963 and 1965 was Gef Lucena. He began Saydisc in May 1965 with backing from Roy Mickleburgh, who was also one of its three directors until 1971. One of the first three records in production was an EP of musical boxes from the Mickleburgh collection. Saydisc is still going strong and there are plenty of CDs of recordings of instruments from the collection.
Name: Alan Dewfall Comment: I worked at Churchill’s between 1972 and 1978 as an engineer. In those days it was mainly repairing electronic organs. My wife Morag also worked there in the office. I remember Andy Dursley worked alongside Eileen Tynan.
