I found this piece in the 'Felixstowe Times' dated 26th December 1936: “The final round of the piano-accordion contest, which has been taking place at the Odeon Cinema, Ipswich, was held on Friday. The prizes were presented by the Mayoress of Ipswich, and, in congratulating the winners, the Mayor (Mr. Victor Smith) said that it was evident from the applause that everyone of the competitors had earned the warmest praise. He paid a tribute to Mr. Peter Mays, who had been instrumental to arranging the contest, and to the theatre management for making it possible. The contest was held under the auspices of the management of the Odeon Cinema, in conjunction with Mr. Carus C. Bedford, of Eboracum House, Ipswich.”
