Camerasports

I found this piece in the 'Cobham News & Advertiser' dated 26th June 1969: “Walton and Weybridge Photographic Club will award monetary prizes to the best action shot in each class. Vouchers for £1, £2 and £3 will be donated by Messrs. Camera-Sports Ltd. of Walton and West Byfleet throughout the weekend.”

Bought my first 45 from Camerasports in West Byfleet (as distinct from Byfleet) in 1968. Not sure how long the business lasted but the small group of shops in which it was originally located has recently been demolished.

I had it in my mind that the record shop in 1960-70s West Byfleet was called Musicwise, but now I remember CameraSports - did it change its name or is my memory just mistaken? We used to go into the listening booth there. My brother and I bought our very first single and album from there, they were £2.50 then! - T.Rex and Deep Purple.
