I found this piece in the 'Herts & Essex Observer' dated 26th November 1981:
“Record success. RECORD buyers take note: If it is a rare Australian import Beatles record or simply a top 20 disc at the lowest prices around, then Budgie Records in Station Road, Sawbridgeworth, could be the place for you. Since opening three months ago Budgie - which claims to be the only independent record store around - has enjoyed tremendous success. It has been terrific, said the owner, who is known simply as Alf. Budgie's specialities include Japanese import singles from British bands such as the Jam and Led Zeppelin. They are very high quality as they are made of pure vinyl rather than the reconstituted vinyl of British records. Also popular are the Australian imports of Beatles EPs which were not released in this country, and French imports of records such the Clash's 1977 hit, 'White Riot'.”
