It was quite small and may have been a specialist Classical dealer. I bought a Decca Eclipse recording of Dvorak and Shostakovich Piano Quintets by the Chigiano Quintet prior to seeing Love Story with a girlfriend which I guess makes it March 1971. (I thought I remembered it as ECS 591 but was wrong it’s ECS 592!)

I found this listing in the 'Shepton Mallet Journal' dated 19th March 1981: “TICKETS available from Wells Cathedral School, Wells Cathedral Shop and Bath Place Records, 5 Bath Place, Taunton.”

There was a fine mix in Bath Place Records - in the 1970s and 1980s I picked up everything from The Baker Gurvitz Army to Kraftwerk, Dvorak to The Adverts. A great little listening booth nestled between the front and back rooms. Splendid staff too!

Lovely memories. I used to love going into Bath Place Records, as well as sitting with friends on the wall outside! I remember we used to ask to listen to albums in the listening booth, and being youngsters back in the early-mid 1980s, we probably got on the staff's nerves at times, as we didn't have the ackers to buy much! Always remembered and now missed whenever I've walked past where it used to be when I occasionally visit my hometown Taunton.
