I found this advert in the 'Croydon Advertiser' dated 2nd June 1939:
“BANNISTER SON & Co. (Croydon) Ltd. have Vacancy for Young Lady to take charge of gramophone record dept.; previous experience of record trade essential and some knowledge of radio desirable; must be well educated and of good appearance.—Apply Managing Director, 64, George St, Croydon.”
... and this in the 15th September 1939 edition:
“BANNISTER SON & CO. (CROYDON) LTD. - CROYDON’S LEADING RADIO PEOPLE - 64, George Street, Croydon (HEAD OFFICE); 225, Lower Addiscombe Road; 156, Cherry Orchard Road. Telephone: CROydon 6732.”
