Comment: I found this piece in 'The Bookseller' dated 8th December 1973:

“At the recent formal opening of St. John Thomas Booksellers at 33 Baker Street (now BAKER STREET RECORDS) as well as the Baker Street Bookshop), David St. John Thomas presented the first prize in The Countryman book competition to John Manners, author.”

… and this advert in the 5th June 1976 edition:

“St John Thomas Booksellers, The Baker Street Bookshop, THE BAKER STREET RECORD SHOP. We are looking for an outstanding manager: our present manager is emigrating. This is a general bookshop (the main floor is devoted to a wide spread of trade books plus paperbacks) with specialist offshoots (the extensive basement includes transport and industrial archaeology, a David & Charles display and a substantial RECORD DEPARTMENT).”

… and this piece in the 'Marylebone Mercury' dated 4th March 1977:

“BAKER STREET RECORDS can be found on the lower sales floor of number 33. Here you can browse in pleasant surroundings among the latest records and tapes - classical, pop, middle-of-the-road, jazz, film music and comedy
