I found an advert in the ‘Manchester Evening News’ dated 13th December 1972:
“OBTAIN THESE GREAT CBS CHART ALBUMS from AVGARDE GALLERY LTD., KING S HOUSE, KING ST. WEST, DEANSGATE, MANCHESTER.”

I found this piece in the 'Kent Evening Post' dated 14th September 1976:
“There are occasions when the conjunction of a visiting star and the house rhythm section acts as a mutual spur and quite outstanding music is the spontaneous result. Three years ago in Manchester just such an event took place at the Avgarde Gallery when Don Rendell brought his saxophones and flute up from London to play with pianist Joe Palin’s Trio. ~ What happened was an eye and ear – opener. Fortunately the evening was recorded (unknown to the musicians at the time) and now Tony Williams has released the results as DON RENDELL WITH THE JOE PALIN TRIO on Spotlite 501.”
