Comment: There was a record shop in Ashton's indoor market. They were the only shop to pin up on the wall the official top 75 singles chart. I never bought anything from there but used to go down on Mondays just to have a look at the chart (pre-internet days!).

There was also a stall on the outside market that sold easy listening cassettes.

I’m sure it was called Galaxy Records! I bought my first-ever 7" records from them in 1980 (I was 8) - 'Don’t Stand So Close To Me' by The Police and 'Baggy Trousers' by Madness - bought on the same day!
