I found this in the 'Peterborough Evening Telegraph' dated 24th July 1987: “ATTENTION Compact Disc owners. Part-exchange your record collection for compact discs or cash at Andys Records, Bridge Street, Peterborough. Tel 45252.” ...and this in the 11th August 1987 edition: “Manager of Andy’s Records at Bridge Street, Peterborough, Tony Malone, said there had been no major increase in Presley record sales. He said: “There have been a spate of releases and re-releases by record companies leading up to the anniversary.”

I spent hours (and a lot of money) in Andy's original shop in Bridge Street and when they moved to a larger shop nearer the Town Hall. I bought some gems in their second-hand section and some memorable bargains in their bargain bin like 12 brand new copies of East Anglia folk singer Mandy Morton's Band for £4 (3 for a pound) and gave them to friends for Christmas; the remaining three sold decades later for £100 each on eBay!
