I found this advert on p3 of the 'Beverley Guardian' dated Thursday 3rd November 1994: “Getting Ready to Rock in Beverley. Andys Records, Britain’s leading independent music retailer, opens in Beverley this Saturday to offer the finest range of music in the area, presented in a style which stands out over every other record store. Browse through our collection of over 12,000 titles. Walk the wide aisles. Study the stack of clearly labelled racks of CDs and Cassettes, past and present. Rock and Classical, Blues and Soul, R & B, Jazz and Dance, Folk and World, Spoken word, Andys Top 100, Easy Listening - the range goes on. Delve into those shelves which offer music of a distinctly different nature. Whatever you’re into - Andys is the place. Have a good look at our absolutely fabulous video selection. Movies, music, comedy, sport and much more are all here. At Andys Records the staff really know their stuff. They are picked for their wide knowledge and tastes in all kinds of music. It’s their job to understand what you want, and how to find it, whether easily available or harder to obtain. There’s no better choice than Andys Records and all the choice in the world when you're there.“
...and this on p2 of the same edition:
“Andys Records is now recognised as the largest independent music specialist. While most high street stores keep up-to-the-minute stocks of chart material, not all provide the same selection of specialist music products. Music categories covered by the group include rock, blues, jazz, soul, heavy metal, classical, country, folk, dance, top 100 chart material and much more besides. Andy’s Records have a highly distinctive decorative style which is now recognised throughout the UK. The stores are bright and spacious and have a wide aisle layout and bold labelling, designed to make it easier for music buyers to identify the various music categories and formats.”
...plus this on p46 of the 'Beverley Advertiser' dated Friday 4th November 1994: “Top record store opens tomorrow. Another major boost to Beverley's shopping scene is the opening tomorrow of Andys Records at 45-46 Saturday Market. It is the 26th store for the company voted the best independent record retailer in the 1993 Music Week Awards. Carrying a far wider range of records than the average High Street record store, Andys are well-known as stockists of specialist music such as blues and jazz as well as mainstream releases. Starting out more than 20 years ago as a stall on Cambridge Market, Andys has now a strong presence throughout the East and Midlands including a store in Hull.”
...and this on p3 of the 'Beverley Guardian' dated 15th December 1994: “Steve Rodgers, manager of the new Andy's Records shop, in Saturday Market, Beverley.”
