A.H. Spittle

I found this piece in the 'Staines & Egham News' dated 19th August 1993: “30-year success story. EVERY item sold at electrical suppliers A. H. Spittle in Addlestone comes with a very personal guarantee. Shop owner Tony Spittle or his partners will check it, deliver it, tell you how to work it, service it and even repair it themselves. And it is that personal touch which has kept the shop in Station Road, Addlestone top of its league for 30 years.”

I believe there was a small Record shop on the High Street called 'Sea Of Sounds'? Sadly, long gone.

Back in the 1970s I briefly had a Saturday job in Spittles. We would go out and repair (and recover) TVs that were out on rental. I can't remember what I was paid but I do remember that Tony got a lot of it back straightaway as I went next door and spent my earnings on records. As of September 2025 I think its still there but the record shop part is now a Dominos Pizza Take Away.
