Comment: The Arcadia, a big department store owned by the Co-operative Society) now demolished to make way for Lidl, also had a few racks of albums containing nothing but releases on MFP (EMI's budget label).

I found this advert in the 'Lancashire Evening Post' dated 19th January 1959: “RECORD RELEASE: DON'T GET STUNG - Make Sure of ELVIS PRESLEY'S new Release - “ONE NIGHT” from your Preston Dealers “THE RIBBLE RECORD SHOP” and “THE GROOVE” in Arcadia - Arndale House, Miller Arcade.”
... and this in the 20th February 1959 edition:
“You can hear the 'Top Rank' Records at YOUR LOCAL 'RANK' CINEMA. You can buy them at THE RIBBLE RECORD SHOP (by Bus Station) and “ARCADIA”, THE ARCADE, PRESTON. Telephone 56938.”
