I found this advert in the 'Banbridge Chronicle' (County Down, N.I.) dated 22nd September 1983:
“RECORDLAND - 17 CHURCH STREET, BANBRIDGE (Proprietress DYMPNA McCONVILLE) OPENING FRIDAY, 30th SEPTEMBER, at 9.30 a.m. BLANK TAPES – POSTERS – BADGES – T-SHIRTS – RECORDS – STYLI and a comprehensive range of Rock, Pop and Country etc. SPECIAL OPENING SALE: SELECTED ALBUMS from £3. 99.”
... and this piece in the 29th October 1987 edition:
“SATURDAY is Music Therapy Day and Recordland in Banbridge is joining in the nationwide sales push to help the mentally handicapped. Organised by the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Centre in London, the aim is to raise urgently needed funds for the musical teaching of mentally handicapped children. Mrs. Dympna Malcolmson of Recordland believes that this is a cause worth supporting and says that record shops throughout the UK are taking part. She said: “For every record, tape or compact disc sold in the country on that day 25p will go to the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Centre.”
... and this announcement in the 1st June 1989 edition:
“RECORDLAND - Closing Down Sale Commences Friday 2nd June. EVERYTHING REDUCED. 17 CHURCH STREET, BANBRIDGE.”
