One quite well known customer was DJ Spoony (BBC Radio 2) who was part of UK Garage DJ's The Dreem Team, he was friends with my Assistant Darryl.

Not sure when it actually opened but it was around 1980 when I first knew of it. The shop was owned by Sidney Shuter and the staff were Sid and Kenrick Hurley at first, around 1986 Darrell Pryor joined, and at weekends Sid's wife Shirley and daughter Laura came to help out.

We had many local well-known DJs and radio guys as regular customers including Tony Munson, Trevor 'Madhatter' Nelson, DJ Spoony, Richie Fingers, Tony Trax, Dave 'Subject 13' Stewart, Kenny Ken, Bobby & Steve, Frankie Foncett, Simon Listner and Little Richard, Wayne Silver to name but a few.

Sid died from a heart attack shortly after Kenrick quit to go to work at Wired 4 Sound in Mare Street, Hackney around 1988...

Sid's son Michael Shuter took over and with Darrell continued to run the shop until 1991-92 when Mark Shine from Goldhawk Records in Shepherds Bush took over but the shop failed around 1995 due to lack of investment. Darrell left and went to work at Wax Records which was formerly owned by Jane Howard and Patrick Harrington, also located in Dalston Kingsland Road until 1997(?) when it closed down mainly due to a burglary and lack of investment.

Used to love Wax Records in Dalston. That's where i met Kenny Ken and he gave me his copy of WILD TIMES - DERRICK MAY in 1989. Darrell also known as *Uncle Darrell* always saved me the best tunes to buy. Great memories from that shop 36 years ago.

The other addresses (802 High Road N12 9SP & 1 North Mall, Edmonton Green) are not related to the shop in Dalston Junction, Hackney. Ridley Road was a street nearby famous for the market which is still there.
