Name: Simeon Hope
Comment: Williams was a general musical instruments dealer, specialising in pianos and electronic organs, although they had a fair amount of electric guitars and the like. Their record shop, such as it was when the shop was in Blackwellgate, lived in a smaller room upstairs. It stocked a standard range of pop and classical and would take orders. I recall no particularly friendly atmosphere upstairs or down in the main shop.

The record department closed in the late 1980s, replaced by synths and electronic musical instruments. The whole shop closed in the 2010s.

Darlington, as of 2019, has no shop selling musical instruments but perhaps four recent additions selling vinyl records. Who'd have thunk it?
