I found this in the 'Southwark & Bermondsey Recorder' dated 4th April 1940: “BERMONDSEY BATHS, MAIN HALL, GRANGE ROAD, BERMONDSEY, THURSDAY, APRIL 10th, at 8 p.m. at which will be demonstrated the wonderful Scientific Gramophone, the Viva-Tonal Columbia and the latest Electric Recordings by Columbia - illustrating the immense advances in gramophone art represented by Columbia instruments and records. A Revelation in Modern Gramophones & Records. ADMISSION FREE BY TICKET ONLY. Obtainable of Authorised Columbia Dealers Mentioned Below: DISTRICT GRAMOPHONE AND WIRELESS CO., 100, TOWER BRIDGE ROAD, S.E.1, and 323, OLD KENT ROAD, S.E.1.” ... and this in the 18th April 1930 edition: “COLUMBIA RECITAL. A large audience was greatly interested in a free Columbia recital given in Bermondsey Baths Hall, on Thursday evening of last week. It was a revelation in modern gramophones and records. The wonderful Scientific Gramophone, the Viva-Tonal Columbia, and the latest electric recordings by Columbia were demonstrated, illustrating the immense advances made in gramophone art by the Company referred to. The District Gramophone and Wireless Company of 100 Tower Bridge Road and 323 Old Kent Road are, we understand, the Company's authorised dealers in this locality.”
