I found this advert in the 'Maidstone Telegraph' dated 8th January 1988:
“ALTO COMPACT MUSIC. Shop Assistant required to work 8-12 hours a week. Applicants should be friendly and efficient, smart and have a keen attitude. Apply in person to The Manager, Alto, Royal Star Arcade, Maidstone or phone 04427 76422.”
... and this in the 'Uxbridge Leader' dated 30th August 1989:
“alto Compact Music HEATHROW AIRPORT. We have vacancies for full and part-time assistants with previous music retailing experience for our new branch opening in Heathrow Airport in September. We offer attractive salaries, bonuses and opportunities for promotion within an expanding retail chain. If you are willing to work flexible hours and are enthusiastic and knowledgeable in all areas of recorded music, we would like to hear from you. Phone Jane Jordan 0442 87642201 for further details.”
... plus this in the 'Croydon Advertiser' dated 5th January 1990:
“MUSIC RETAILING GATWICK AIRPORT. Full or part time sales staff required for a new branch of Alto Compact Music opening shortly in Gatwick Airport. Some previous retailing experience, a good knowledge of music and willingness to be flexible hours essential. Phone Jane Jordan on 0442 87642201 for further details.”
... and this in the 'Hemel Hempsted Gazette' dated 16th March 1990:
