I found this advert in the 'Oxford Chronicle & Reading Gazette' dated 13th February 1920:
“NEW GRAMOPHONE SALOON - SYDNEY ACOTT & CO. LTD., 124, HIGH STREET, OXFORD, HAVE OPENED AN ENTIRELY NEW DEPARTMENT, EXCLUSIVELY FOR GRAMOPHONES, RECORDS & ACCESSORIES. NOTE: The New Department is fitted with several AUDITION CABINETS which enables Patrons to listen to the Records under ideal conditions. OVER 5,000 RECORDS IN STOCK.”
